When the first Fw190's appeared in 1941 they were a serious threat to RAF air superiority in the skies over occupied France. Their 1700HP BMW801 radial engine and superb maneuverability gave them a performance edge that was not challenged until the RAF started receiving the improved Spitfire Mk IX. The Fw190D-9 was developed in an effort to give the fighter sufficient performance to intercept the high altitude formations of B-17's and B-24's flying over occupied Europe. The Mustang III was the RAF equivalent of the P-51B with a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine and the "razorback" fuselage. When the Messerschmitt Bf109 first flew in 1936 it was, in many ways, the most advanced fighter aircraft in the world. The design was continually improved and the first E-models came into service at the start of WWII. The E-3, which this kit represents, was active during the invasion of France and the Battle of Britain.

The F-84 Thunderjet was the first jet aircraft produced by Republic and first flew in Feb. 1946. The fuselage was an evolution of the company's P-47 Thunderbolt propeller-driven fighter, and the aircraft had straight wings. The F-84G was produced beginning in 1951 and was used during the Korean War, primarily for attacking North Korean ground targets.

Originating out of a private venture by the British deHavilland company to produce a high performance bomber from non-strategic materials, the Mosquito evolved into one of the most versatile and in demand aircraft of WWII. Made mostly from balsa wood, the Mosquito could fly fast enough and high enough to outrun any German aircraft that tried to intercept it for most of the war. The aircraft was used as a bomber, a nightfighter, a fighter-bomber, and a reconnaisance aircraft and proved highly effective in those roles. It was powered by two Rolls-Royce Merlin engines, the same engine used in the P-51, Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster, just to name a few.

The British Air Ministry was reluctant to order the production of the DeHavilland Mosquito until it had witnessed what it was capable of. Once proven, the Mosquito was used to bomb Gestapo headquarters and Berlin in several successful attacks. Because the Mosquito could carry heavy loads, and deliver low altitude suprise attacks with accuracy, it performed all of its' duties with minimal losses

The Bristol Beaufighter was a sturdy and well-armed craft that fulfilled a wide variety of duties during WWII. The favored role of this effective craft was ground and ship attack. When the TF.Mk.X was introduced with a 1770 horsepower plant it became an even more popular anti-shipping craft. Commonly, Beaus would attack in two waves where first, rocket equipped beaus would weaken axis ships, and torpedo equipped beaus would come clean up the mess. In March 1945, in the span of forty-eight hours, two squadrons of Beaufighters destroyed five U-boats.

The style of the Corsair F4U-1A of the Pacific War has been recreated with stunning attention to detail. The high positioned pilot seat and double frame canopy show crisp detail. Gull wings, unique to the Corsair can be assembled in the folded or flight position. The unique design of this multi-purpose aircraft featured two liquid cooled engines powering two props. The design was nothing short of revolutio- ary and provided top speeds of 760 km/h. The original was designed with a single cockpit, however due to the considerable number of accidents during test flights, the plane was converted mid-production to this dual cockpit trainer. The extra hump caused by the trainer cockpit on the fuselage led pilots to nickname it "Anteater".

The RAF's Gloster Meteor was the first and only operational Allied jet fighter to actually enter combat in WWll. This kit makes up into a fine model of this famous jet aircraft. Requires cement and paint to complete the model.

On April 1944. The F4U-1D became the first Corsair version to be officially approved for carrier operation. the small moto tug which is included with this model was ideal for manoeuvring the aircraft on carrier runways. Requires polystyrene cement and paint to complete the model.

This is the representation of P-47D early production that was nicknamed “razorback” because of the shape of the upper part of the fuselage behind the cockpit. The shape of the plane, especially its belly, has been accurately reproduced. Wing have been divided the same way as the original plane and beams ease their assembly while maintaining proper dihedral (angle of wings attached to fuselage). Flaps can be assembled in low or up position. Cowl flaps and inter-cooling flaps can be assembled in open or closed position.
