Dragon are steadily expanding this range of superb models, crafted in plastic for maximum detail definition with some metal parts and finished in authentic camouflage schemes. Tracks are one piece rubber but give a good effect. Nicely boxed - good plastic display box inside a cardboard outer. Model length is about 4 1/2" (115mm) - based on Tiger 1. Most have rotable turrets and a gun that elevates. Fine detail incudes ropes, shackles and tools carried on the chassis, plus smoke dischargers, machine guns and external petrol tanks appropriate for each model. Best of all these models are pre-painted with sharp, accurate and authentic camouflage and realistic weathering.

Countering the insurgency in Iraq is no easy task and this duty is fraught with danger, so much so that Humvees used by U.S. troops for patrols are now exclusively up-armoured variants. The M1114 HMMWV is widely used in this role, as its armour panels offer greater protection against the deadly IEDs, RPGs and bullets that might suddenly strike at any time of day. An M1114 is Dragon Armour’s latest model to hit the shelves, this time in the markings of 1-36 INF of the 1st Armoured Division. This version is an accurate miniature replica of an actual vehicle serving in Baghdad in 2004 and is overflowing with details. The 1/72 scale vehicle is in a green and black camouflage scheme and is armed with a 0.50-cal M2 machine gun in the roof weapon station with LVOSS launchers mounted on each corner of the roof. This vehicle is ready to head out on patrol on the perilous streets of Baghdad – to keep order and resist insurgents!
