| > Military > Dragon Armour | | Dragon are steadily expanding this range of superb models, crafted in plastic for maximum detail definition with some metal parts and finished in authentic camouflage schemes. Tracks are one piece rubber but give a good effect. Nicely boxed - good plastic display box inside a cardboard outer. Model length is about 4 1/2" (115mm) - based on Tiger 1. Most have rotable turrets and a gun that elevates. Fine detail incudes ropes, shackles and tools carried on the chassis, plus smoke dischargers, machine guns and external petrol tanks appropriate for each model. Best of all these models are pre-painted with sharp, accurate and authentic camouflage and realistic weathering. | Dragon Armor 1/72 HMMWV Gun Truck 1st Infantry Div./ Engineer Brigade Iraq 2003 (60074) In the protracted fighting in Vietnam, with constant threats from guerilla attacks springing from any direction, GIs developed their heavily armed “gun trucks”. These gun trucks protected vulnerable convoys, and offered increased protection and firepower for their occupants. This tradition lives on in Iraq. With threats from small-arms fire, RPGs and IEDs, American troops resorted to the expedient of adding armor to many of their vehicles. Dragon’s newest M998 “Gun Truck” is precisely one such vehicle. The basic HMMWV has had steel plates added around the rear cargo compartment, while an M60 machine gun with armored shield has been mounted in the cargo bed. This green-colored vehicle represents a vehicle from an engineer brigade of the 1st Infantry Division in 2003. The 1/72 scale model Humvee is simply awesome – it has full interior details, scale thickness add-on armor plates, detailed front brush guard, accurate gun shield and pedestal-mounted machine gun, and beautiful pad painting. The “gun truck” tradition lives on! About the M1025: The M1025 armament carriers provide mounting and firing of the MK19 automatic grenade launcher; M2, caliber .50 machine gun; and M60, 7.62 mm machine gun; ring-mounted with 360° arc of fire, with armor protection for crew, weapon components, and ammunition.
Fully-loaded M1025 armament carriers will climb road grades as steep as 60% (31°) and traverse a side slope of up to 40% (22°). The vehicles ford hard bottom water crossings up to 30 inches (76 centimeters) without a deep water fording kit and 60 inches (152 centimeters) with the kit. | |
