| > Military > Dragon Armour | | Dragon are steadily expanding this range of superb models, crafted in plastic for maximum detail definition with some metal parts and finished in authentic camouflage schemes. Tracks are one piece rubber but give a good effect. Nicely boxed - good plastic display box inside a cardboard outer. Model length is about 4 1/2" (115mm) - based on Tiger 1. Most have rotable turrets and a gun that elevates. Fine detail incudes ropes, shackles and tools carried on the chassis, plus smoke dischargers, machine guns and external petrol tanks appropriate for each model. Best of all these models are pre-painted with sharp, accurate and authentic camouflage and realistic weathering. | Dragon Armor 1/72 German Jagdpanzer IV L/70 Self Propelled Gun with Schurzen (60261) The Jagdpanzer IV is not new to the expanding Dragon Armour range, but this latest incarnation is! Item 60261 features an L/70 Late Production variant fighting in Germany in 1945 in the final months of WWII. There are several things that make this particular 1/72 scale model stand out from its peers. The most obvious is the stunning paint scheme – it consists of a white winter whitewash broken up with mottled sand color patches. This vehicle also has a new style of exhaust muffler characteristic of a Late Production derivative, plus a complete set of Schurzen side skirts is installed. The pre-assembled model is tastefully and realistically weathered. The other thing of particular interest to collectors is that this vehicle is being produced in strictly limited quantities. This means only a lucky few will be privileged to have this item grace their military vehicle collection! Weighing 25.8 tons, the Late Version of Germany’s Jagdpanzer packed a lethal punch with its 7.5cm PaK42 L/70 gun. It was designed exclusively as a tank hunter, its low profile and powerful armament ensured it was successful in this role. The Late model had two steel-rimmed wheels at the first two wheel stations, because of the failure of earlier rubber-tired wheels due to the increased weight of extra armor. All these details, along with the three (instead of four) return rollers are present on Dragon Armor’s latest model of the Jagdpanzer IV. The model is made even more unique with its special winter camouflage scheme of overall white with yellow ‘splotches’. This tank-hunter was rushed into combat to try and stem the tide of Red Army tanks closing in on Hungary in 1945. Ultimately, that desperate defense failed - but this Dragon collector’s model is a complete success, thanks to its attention to detail, plus its superb painted and weathered finish! | |
