The 101st Fighter Squadron of the Navy became the first to be outfitted with the F-4J in 1966, and the Marines in 1967. It broke record after record, including top-speed, altitude, and time-to-climb. On September 11, 1972, The F-4J shot down a MiG-21 near Hanoi, in the Vietnam War. That was the only time a MiG was downed by a U.S. Marine aircraft. The F-4J remained with the Marines until 1991. Battling in five major conflicts, spanning over three decades, the Phantom II earned a special place in warplane history

Assembly kit of the early production version of the F-4E Phantom II main fighter of the U.S. Airforce. Scale: 1/32, fuselage length: 600mm, wingspan: 368mm. The intrepid form of the F-4E Phantom with its characteristically elongated nose, has been accurately reproduced. Fuselage has been molded as one piece with intricate areas faithfully recreated. Main pieces can be fastened to fuselage with screws. Plane's nose can be reproduced with clear parts to allow viewing of the details of the 20mm M61A1 6 barrel Vulcan gun pod and AN/APQ-120 radar after model assembly. Exquisite detail of cockpit and instrument panels portrayed in superb detail. Canopy can be assembled in the open or closed position. Landing gear reproduced with dye-cast parts and tires are recreated with real rubber. Parts for recreation of full armament, such as air-to-air missiles, are included in kit. Kit also features pilot and co-pilot figures as well as decals for replication of two different planes.

What a fabulous kit!

The popular F-15E Strike Eagle (Item 60302) was released in 1993. However, since this items release, the F-15E has come to be equipped with a variety of newly developed weapons systems. Following the changes in times and aviation fighting technology Tamiya has decided to modernize its kit in response to the various renewals made on the plane that has been active in the Gulf War, Kosovo, and Afghanistan. This kit will feature accurate replicas of all the latest weapons systems employed by the F-15 Strike Eagle, and will even include the famous "bunker buster."

Included parts for replicating 2 of the following - GBU-28, AGM-130, JDAM. The GBU-15 guided bomb (the AGM-130 without rocket can be assembled). Parts for replication of GBU-10, MK-20 Rockeye and Sidewinder missiles included in original F-15E Strike Eagle kit are featured in this kit as well. Replicas of four ARAAM missiles, two 610 gallon tanks can be attached below the wings. Decals for portrayal of two or more planes have been included. These, combined with decals of the previous kit enable the depiction of 7 different F-15E Strike Eagles. Landing gear has been recreated with die-cast metal, and tires have been reproduced with synthetic rubber for added realism. Cockpit has been rendered with scrupulous detail. 2 figures are included (pilot and weapons system operator) in the seated position

A potent weapon for the US Navy since the 1970's the Tomcat will soon pass into military history to be replaced by the F18 hornet. This boxing of the "Huge" Tamiya kit represents an aircraft of VF-154 The Black Knights who are recently returned from active service on CVN-63 Kittyhawk during the second Gulf conflict to their forward deployed port of Atsugi Japan. Decals allow choice of 2 colorful marking schemes unique to the Thunderbirds team. Includes fully accurate Thunderbirds pilot figure and ladder. Metal pitot tube and static dischargers, and die-cast landing gear provides extra durability. Main tail flaps and vertical tail fins can move after assembly thanks to poly caps. Vertical tail fin can be removed after assembly allowing model to be stored in box.

The F4-J, which became the representative version of the Phantom series in the U.S. Navy has been reproduced in full detail as a 1/32 scale model.
